Alexandra has been teaching at Meta Music since 2019. What she finds most exciting about teaching is using her skill and experience to help students discover, strengthen, and expand their individual voice. For her, the most rewarding part of working with her music students is giving them the supportive space and technical tools to freely express themselves.
Alexandra grew up in the greater Atlanta area and began studying music and performance at an early age. She attended North Springs Performing Arts Magnet School for four years and continued her studies at California Institute of the Arts earning a BFA in Theatre in 2011. Since returning to Atlanta in 2014 she has worked with students of all ages at the MJCCA, Eye Level Learning Center, Emory and Meta Music. -

Bio:
I love helping students discover their own musical voice through creativity-focused, relationship-based teaching. My goal is to give you the tools and confidence to become an independent musician who can practice effectively and develop your own artistic style.
With 7+ years at Meta Music and an Associate's degree in Audio Post-Production, I bring both teaching experience and real performance credibility. I have performed for over 15 years across Atlanta at venues like The Masquerade, Smith's Olde Bar, and Vinyl, and have released more than 20 albums of original music.
My students achieve incredible things. Some now work as engineers at professional recording studios, while others have gained acceptance into competitive music programs at prestigious universities. I particularly enjoy helping with college audition preparation and guiding students interested in music production careers.
I speak multiple languages including Spanish, Japanese, and French, and I love connecting with students through shared interests like video games and astrophysics. Whether you want to rock out on stage, write your own songs, or dive into the technical world of music production, I will help you build the skills and confidence to achieve your musical dreams.

I've been working here at Meta Music since June 2023, but my journey with the school began years earlier—I started as a student here in late 2019. Being on both sides of the lesson room has shaped how I approach teaching today.
My teaching style is rooted in playing music that actually means something to the student. We work through songs they know and love, with a strong focus on collaboration, building real-world playing skills, and doing the hard work and practice that truly makes a difference.
I’ve worked with several student bands and helped students prepare for performances. It's been incredibly rewarding to guide them from practice to stage and watch their confidence grow.
At the heart of my teaching philosophy is connection—helping students build a personal relationship with music, while also learning how to learn. My ultimate goal is to help students become self-sufficient musicians, and even more importantly, lifelong learners. One of my favorite moments is when a student locks into a part they've worked hard on and really feels the progress they’ve made.
Musically, I love a wide range—from R&B to jazz to technical death metal, and a whole lot in between. I primarily play 6-string bass because of the freedom it gives me to explore different tones and styles.
I'm working with students of all ages, and especially beginners. I specialize in beginner electric/acoustic guitar and can teach bass students up to an intermediate level.

When I think back on the teachers that have made the greatest impact on me, I see my first drum instructor John LaMattina and my high school percussion instructor McKinley Stinson. Both of these educators made sure to emphasize that being a good percussionist was not just about learning how to play a variety of instruments, but learning how to be a well-rounded musician, how to learn from those around us, and how to find joy in the process- even through moments of frustration. This grew into part of a life philosophy for me: that continuous and well-rounded learning is one of the joys of life, that all learning is interdisciplinary, and that all of this should be accessible to anyone.
A large part of what drew me to Meta is this shared philosophy. We prioritize the unique learning style of each student, as well as what keeps them motivated to be lifelong learner. It's truly an honor to be teaching in an environment that is so encouraging, and gives us the opportunity to learn more about ourselves and the world around us everyday through one of the most impactful and well-loved mediums: music.
I’ve been a percussionist for over 15 years- starting with hand drums before moving into various school bands, and learning drum kit. After high school, I continued my education by taking lessons (both in person and online) with teachers such as Emrah Kotan, Yoni Madar, and JP Bouvet. Since 2015 I’ve played with multiple bands, been on a few tours, and gained studio experience both as a band member and freelance session musician.

Sophia has been playing guitar for 8 years. In that time, she’s worked as a bard of sorts in a traveling quartet, played wedding gigs, and has been a session musician at various studios in the Atlanta area. She’s also worked as a lyricist, songwriter, and vocalist. Before coming to Meta Music, she taught lessons privately through her own website. While guitar is her primary and mastered instrument, she also plays keys, bass, and some drums. When she’s not teaching you can find her rollerskating, skateboarding, or trying to find a pool to swim in.
